The way we work

It’s always difficult to talk about yourself. That’s why we’d like to quote some interim managers and some of our clients.

‘The guys at Mandaat are straight shooters, they don’t horse around. They are clear and quickly bring us candidates to our satisfaction.’

‘Their own knowledge and experience of SMEs, startups, private equity and big corporations allows them to join us in finding the right management solution, no holds barred. They’re real entrepreneurs!’

Our History

Mandaat was founded in 2000 as a subsidiary of Custom Management.

It has been an independent bureau since 2009, led by the two former partners of Custom Management, Jeroen Nuesink and Diederik van den Biggelaar.

Our focus was first and foremost on restructuring and helping businesses get out of heavy weather. Since 2012, we have found a unique proposition: we find managers who can run foreign subsidiaries of Dutch and other internationally active companies.

Janco Duvekot joined us in 2017 as a shareholding partner, when Jeroen stepped down.

Our offices are at the polo club Vreeland on the enticing Groot Kantwijk Estate. Vreeland is a village on the Vecht river in the central Netherlands that was first awarded city rights in the middle ages.

Mandaat Investments

Mandaats unique proposition for buying an SME:

  • Managers who have proven themselves, are competent entrepreneurs, have adequate financing in place, and who can assume the role of chief executive officer.
  • Informal investors that can support and finance a management buy-in
  • Mandaat’s partners who can lead the buy-in process and successfully see it through, based on a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience.
  • Our digital filing cabinets are full of experienced specialists to carry out due diligence.
  • All the experience needed for consulting on turn-arounds or acceleration after the MBI.
  • Financial means to participate in the venture.

Mandaat Academy

We organize several events to bond with our managers, keep them focused, and to advance the business that is interim management. Do contact us for detailed information!

Master Course
Professor Jan Adriaanse leads our four-day Master Course. The theme is ‘Transition management in a disruptive world.’ About 15-20 Mandaat Interim Managers and clients take part in this event each year. It is a course that consists of four days of interaction and that finishes with a Leiden University diploma. Participants rate our course at a 9.2 average out of 10.

Mandaat Nights
Three to four times per year, we organize an informal evening for some 60 interim managers, to catch up, network, and engage in valuable discussions with keynote speakers like René Hooftgraafland (non-executive director Ahold-Delhaize, Wolters Kluwer and Friesland Campina), Gosse Boon (non-executive director KPMG, BAM and Albron) and others.

C-level
Once a year, we invite several top businesspeople and managers to take on a topic and get to the bottom of it. We then finish of the afternoon with a private dinner, prepared by Michelin star chef Wilco Berends of the De Nederlanden restaurant.
